Whitbread was founded in 1978 by the late John and Margaret Whitbread, who saw an opportunity for a strong, local insurance broker focused on quality service and relationships.

As Managing Director between 1978 and 2010, John Whitbread created a strong legacy built on fairness and family values – qualities that have helped to guide the success of the company since day one.

As part of ASX-listed Steadfast Group, the largest general insurance broker network and underwriting agency group in Australasia, Whitbread has now grown to become a well-respected and influential business, employing more than 80 people. 

While Whitbread has expanded significantly, we’ve never lost sight of the commitment it takes to build a small business into a thriving one.
