Whitbread Insurance Group Company directors, Angela, Claire and John Paul Whitbread announced the Whitbread Foundation’s $1,000,000 commitment to The Hunger Project Australia over the next 4 years.
The Hunger Project is a global, non-profit charity that works with third world communities, in particular women, to break the cycle of poverty through leadership training.
In November 2012, Angela and Claire travelled with 16 other female business leaders to Uganda, Africa as part of the Business Chicks Immersion and Leadership program in partnership with The Hunger Project.
They saw first-hand how the work of the Hunger Project empowers people to find sustainable solutions to end their own hunger.
The money committed will go directly to the epicentre at Kiruhura, Uganda to assist the work of The Hunger Project.
Angela, Claire and John Paul established the Whitbread Foundation - a Private Ancillary Fund, in honour of their late parents who were great believers in community giving.
A percentage of their business’ profit is donated to the PAF and the directors also contribute individually.
The Whitbread family see giving as a way of bringing a higher purpose to their business and a demonstration of their leadership as global citizens.
