History

For over 40 years, Whitbread has been a recognised leader in the Australian insurance industry.

Whitbread was founded in 1978 by the late John and Margaret Whitbread, who saw an opportunity for a strong, local insurance broker focused on quality service and relationships.

As Managing Director between 1978 and 2010, John Whitbread created a strong legacy built on fairness and family values – qualities that have helped to guide the success of the company since day one.

As part of ASX-listed Steadfast Group, the largest general insurance broker network and underwriting agency group in Australasia, Whitbread has now grown to become a well-respected and influential business, employing more than 80 people.

While Whitbread has expanded significantly, we’ve never lost sight of the commitment it takes to build a small business into a thriving one.

We’re proud that many of our clients are small businesses and family businesses – companies we have been able to help grow and prosper.

Whitbread remain true to the values that have helped us achieve so much success from our small beginnings, and we’re continually looking for new and better ways to deliver on our strengths.

Complex legislation and the intricate, highly involved nature of managing Strata Insurance and strata claims, has meant the role of an insurance broker is more valuable than ever for strata managers.
