History

For more than 35 years, Whitbread have been a recognised leader in the Australian insurance industry.

Whitbread was founded in 1978 by the late John and Margaret Whitbread, who saw an opportunity for a strong, local insurance broker focused on quality service and relationships.

As Managing Director between 1978 and 2010, John Whitbread created a strong legacy built on fairness and family values – qualities that have helped to guide the success of the company since day one.

Since that time, Whitbread had grown to become a well-respected and influential business employing more than 80 people across its Melbourne and Sydney offices.

Today, Whitbread is managed by John and Margaret’s children, Angela, Claire and John Paul. And while Whitbread is quite a bit bigger than when it began, we’ve never lost sight of the commitment it takes to build a small business into a thriving one.

We’re proud that many of our clients are small businesses and family businesses much like ours – companies that have been able to grow and prosper with a little help from us.

And while we remain true to the values that have helped us achieve so much success, we’re continually looking for new and better ways to deliver on our strengths.
